Our ideas are the result of a systematic and consistent observation of the market, combined with a sure instinct for trends resulting from our more than 30 years of experience in the mass market. We scan the market, thoroughly work through topics, analyse, compare them as part of a continuous benchmarking and conduct tests. With a team of clever minds, pragmatic technicians, cool calculating controllers and versatile product managers, products are created that are absolutely in line with the market. If our enthusiasm for it is then also transferred to the customer, then we have reached our goal.

QUALITY CONTROL

When it comes down to it, if needed we like to go some unusual ways. In one point, however, we are uncompromising: the adherence to the highest quality criteria is essential. In this way, by means of audits we ensure before a collaboration that our products are only produced where our quality requirements can be met. Within our network, our employees closely monitor the articles both in-house and directly on site. In addition, we work together with proven test institutes.

Within the area of risk management, we are constantly engaged in the detection, analysis, assessment, monitoring and control of potential risks. In this way we recognise possible risks at an early stage, avoid them or optimise the articles accordingly.

CSR

As a medium sized company, we take our responsibility towards the environment and society very seriously. That is why Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of our corporate philosophy as a natural extension of our core values: quality, respect, responsibility and integrity. We are convinced that sustainable, ecological and social action not only ensures the long term success of a company, but also ensures the access to the customers of the future.

In order to live up to our principles and values, we follow a comprehensive CSR concept in our daily activities. We understand legal requirements as being a minimum standard. In addition, we voluntarily integrate social and environmental initiatives and activities that affect both the company and product levels.

With our CSR concept, it is our intention to bear the essential responsibility of leaving a valuable legacy for the next generation. This is an ambitious goal and cannot be achieved overnight. Rather, it is a never ending, continuous process that we have dedicated ourselves to for over 20 years. We always strive for clarity, credibility, transparency and trust. Fairness is a long journey. But it is our journey, on which we continue step by step.

We have defined our corporate responsibility especially in the areas of society, environmental protection and animal welfare. Although we are principally responsible in all areas of CSR, certain social and environmental aspects determine our goals of sustainability, according to our core business area.

1. Purchasing

Our responsibility is global.

Our products are made predominantly in China, Vietnam, India, and other Asian procurement markets. We have been a member of amfori BSCI and BEPI for many years to fulfil our responsibility as a purchaser for socially and environmentally responsible and sustainable production conditions.

amfori aims to ensure and continuously improve responsible social and environmental trade in the production and supply chain. As such amfori establishes the basis for all business relationships between Delta-Sport and our contracting partners. As a member we are committed to: Act fairly and honestly at all times. The amfori rules and standards are recognised internationally and as such offer the universal basis for the trade and co-operation with our different global suppliers.
The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct defines the basis for responsible trade:

  • Freedom of assembly
  • No discrimination
  • No child labour
  • Statutory minimum wage or industry standard wages
  • Working hours (especially overtime) comply with national laws
  • No forced labour and disciplinary measures
  • Safety and health are respected at the work place.
  • The environment is respected.
  • No bribery and corruption

The amfori BEPI Code of Conduct also covers the following environmental performance areas:

  • Environmental management system.
  • Energy and climate.
  • Emissions to the atmosphere.
  • Water and sewage.
  • Waste.
  • Biodiversity.
  • Chemicals.
  • Nuisance (noise, dust, etc.).

Dialogue with our suppliers

We have already made important progress in our effort to create better social and environmental conditions. We work closely with amfori and also conduct our own independent internal audits. However the work on improved conditions is by no means complete yet. For that reason we place a great emphasis on establishing guidelines and objectives with our suppliers and learning from the experiences and knowledge of others. The dialogue with our suppliers is critical and we actively seek exchange of information. We can develop and realise the best solutions together with open communication and training. We have dedicated ourselves to continuous improvement and thank our suppliers for their co-operation to bring about positive changes.

Delta-Sport is a company with a strong internal and external structure that consistently adheres to binding ethical rules. Good working conditions for employees are an essential and elementary characteristic.

Our employees

The key to our success are our employees. We build on their loyalty and reliability. Each of our employees has a clear area of ​​responsibility, within which we promote independent action, initiative and creativity. We consistently comply with legal obligations regarding occupational health and safety.

We are convinced that further training measures ensure our future business success. In addition, they are essential for the design and implementation of unusual solutions. That is why we offer training and development opportunities within our company – regardless of gender, origin, age or religion. This strengthens the motivation and the personal development and satisfaction of the individual.

In cooperation with customers, suppliers, service companies and social groups, integrity and reliability come first. 3. CO2-Footprint

CO2 (carbon dioxide) is one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect. We want to reduce our share of carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore we undertake specific measures:

  • We rely on new technologies such as video and telephone conferences and thereby reduce short and long travel distances.
  • We have reduced the quantity of air transport.
  • We are constantly reducing the consumption of water, electricity and paper.

4. Chemicals

In the production of sophisticated articles, the use of chemical products is necessary to achieve the desired functions, to ensure high quality or to ensure the desired aesthetics. Our goal is to use more and more sustainable and chemically harmless products that do not affect human and animal health and the environment in general.
We do this with the help of clear specifications, which each of our suppliers not only has to confirm, but we also check their implementation. Regular audits are carried out in cooperation with internationally active testing and certification companies, as well as technical audits. We want our customers to feel completely safe and comfortable.

5. Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)

“The promotion of an environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable management of forests” or in other words: you should only cut as much wood out of a forest as can grow back. This is the mission of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and we support this charitable organisation with their task. That is why our products carry the label FSC (FSC – C108925). And so our products are not only natural, but also sustainable.

Our animal world is in need of protection. Therefore, we commit ourselves that in our production no misuse of animals is carried out and a proper and appropriate handling of livestock is performed. We are committed to the protection of animals and are against keeping animals exclusively for the production of clothing items. That means as follows:

  • No real fur products
  • Leather only from dead animals
  • No mulesing (sheep mutilation)
  • No live plucking

Society
We accept our responsibility globally. We are a member of the amfori BSCI – this forms the basis of our business dealings. As better working conditions are our concern. We also show responsibility towards our employees in Hamburg. That is why further training is firmly anchored in our company. Respectful dealing with customers, suppliers and service companies is a matter of course for us.

Environmental protection
We are convinced that the environmental impact must be minimised, and ideally it must be avoided altogether. We are therefore committed to certified organic cotton, effective logistics, a clean carbon footprint, responsible use of chemicals and the Forest Stewardship Council label.

Animal welfare
We are committed to the appropriate treatment of animals. Therefore, the following rules apply to our products: no real fur products, leather only from dead animals, no mulesing, and no live plucking (we are a member of Traumpass.)

Outlook
We have already achieved a lot in the area of CSR. That motivates us to go further: we want to improve our entire product range and manufacturing processes according to environmental and social criteria. We want to meet our own requirements, and those of our customers. Delta-Sport should not only stand for the highest quality now and in the future, but also for the highest sustainability standard.
